Owakudani Valley

Owakudani is an area around a crater created during the last eruption of Mount HakoneĀ about 3000 years ago. Still now the area is an active volcanic zone where sulfurous fumes and smoke from hot spring steam vents can be experienced from the deck near the Owakudani ropeway station. In case of having some underlying disease or pregnancy, the Hakone municipality recommends guests to enjoy the view from the ropeway.

Admission free, open 9:00 to 17:00. Ropeway service is also 9:00 to 17:00.
