Kawagoe City
Kawagoe: a Glimpse of Old Japan near Tokyo, the Tokyo of yore.
The city of Kawagoe is located in the north west of Tokyo and takes about 50 minutes from Tokyo by train. It is called “Little Edo”(the former name of Tokyo).
Kawagoe has a lot of cultural properties and historic sites representing the Edo era such as “Kurazukuri” (fireproof storehouses), “Tokinokane”(Bell Tower),”Kawagoe Castle”, ”Kitain Temple”, ”Gohyaku-Rakan Statues”(stone statues),Toshogu Shrine, “Kawagoe Festival” and others.
